Who's Helping Women in NYC Theatre?

Womens-Project-Theater-Logo-300x300Women still find themselves struggling to get their time in the spotlight as they fight to make up only 20% of the entire theatre arts workforce. The Women's Project Theater, originally founded in 1978, is the nation's oldest and largest company focused on getting women's work noticed. This award winning organization not only showcases works written by female playwrights, but features female directors, producers and actors.

The Women's Project Theater is also a company focused on fostering the growth of young female talent through their program The WP Lab. Women accepted into The WP Lab are guided through a two-year mentorship and new play development program, which annually features three off-Broadway productions written and directed by women.

It may be Women's History Month, but these ladies are working non-stop, all year round. Check out our interview with Producing Artistic Director Julie Crosby below:

Check out our review of the Women's Project Theater's current production, "The Architecture of Becoming", here.

The Women's Project Theater's "Architecture of Becoming" runs through Mar. 23.
