Cougar The Musical

BuckAndTheLadiesWeb

“Cougar the Musical” is not about dating younger men. Rather it’s about showing that love is ageless. Donna Moore, the creator of the show, envisioned a play that would give women confidence to feel good about themselves and find love at any point in life.

Danny Bernardy said he has been in the show since the beginning, when it was done in a small cabaret, and it’s great to see it come to fruition on the big stage. He’s the only man in the musical and plays all the male characters including Buck, Twilight Dude, Bourbon Cowboy and Naked Peter, and even plays Eve, the nail salon attendant, through versatile wardrobe changes. He’s the center of the cougar attention as he goes on dates with older women and has a taste for what it truly feels to date a cougar, or “Fabulous-over-forty-women” as they like to be referred to in the show.

“Cougar The Musical” has an original soundtrack, and the cast teems with very talented women: Catherine Porter who played in “Australia” opposite Hugh Jackman, Brenda Braxton who was previously in the musical “Chicago” starring as Velma Kelly opposite Usher, and Babs Winn who can also be seen in the “Daily Show with Jon Stewart.”

The show is not just a funny and an entertaining take of the lives of "cougars," but it also is the story of women becoming more empowered regardless of a man's presence in their lives. It is a modern twist on learning to love one’s self and is the ultimate tale of women overcoming subconscious fears and issues through the indirect help of one another.

The whole show is excellently put together, especially the live instrumentation and exuberant songwriting which adds to the coziness and all the clever wordplay and witty remarks that you can only find in a real New York show.
