“A story that needs to be told…”

Based on the folk tales of “Pedro Urdemales” and “Juan Bobo”

In Eight tales of Pedro, two sets of storytellers, some now and some in the 17th century, cross a country- risking everything for a new life. As they tell their tales, their lives and plots combine and intertwine into the same conclusion.

Through the dual narratives, a cast of six actors tell eight classic Spanish folktales. The plot examines what it means to be Latino today while also exploring the timelessness of Spanish and Latin American culture. As they tell their tales, their lives and plots combine and intertwine into the same conclusion.

The story is based on the Spanish tales of Pedro Urdemales and the Puerto Rican tales of Juan Bobo. The play is written by Mark-Eugene Garcia and directed by Rodrigo E Bolaños.

Eight Tales of Pedro’s cast features Laura Aguinaga (ABC’s Shades of Blue), Richard E. Calvache, Germainne Lebron, Kat Peña, and Stephen Santana.

Eight Tales of Pedro features original music by Luis D’Elias and Scenic design by Rodrigo Ernesto Bolaños

Performances of Eight Tales of Pedro are on Sunday August 12th @3:00pm, Saturday August 18th @8:00pm, Thursday August 23rd @7:30pm, Wednesday August @29th 7:30pm

“I believe a hero appears when you need him. We are in a time when pride in our heritage is more important than ever. I believe we need a hero to remind us that in heritage there is honor, family, and hope. Pedro Urdemales and Juan Bobo are those heroes.”- Playwright Mark-Eugene Garcia.

Mark-Eugene Garcia was most recently seen reliving his high school theatre days on Encore! with Kristen Bell on ABC. His musicals include Standby (Towle Theatre, New York International Fringe Festival- Encores Selection, New York Musical Theatre Festival, Next Link Selection), The Holy Cows of Credence South Dakota (PCTF- Outstanding Book of a new Musical and/or Play with Music- Nominee), and Facing East: A New Musical.
