TAKE Dance, led by Takehiro Ueyama, will present “In the Sea of Heaven,” an evening that includes two Ueyama premieres and a revival of renowned choreographer/master teacher Kauko Hirabayashi (1933-2016). Ueyama will premiere “In the Sea of Heaven,” set to music by award-winning Japanese musician/composer Kato Hideki, performed live. The new dance is a fairytale that pays tribute to the victims of natural disasters who are transformed into angels. Also premiering is a second incarnation of the men’s quartet, The Game, from the choreographer’s full evening “Salaryman.” TAKE Dance will also revive “Les Reves D’apres Midi,” music by Debussy, created by Ms. Hirabayashi in 2004 on Ueyama and Jill Echo. The revival honors Hirabayashi and her work with this duet which, though outside of her usual style, is a romantic dance that is timeless in its beauty and humanity.
