If you like “Dancing With The Stars” or “So You Think You Can Dance,” you’ll love the 26th Annual Manhattan Amateur Classic, also known as the “MAC.”
The MAC is a three day competition featuring America’s top amateur dancers, great music and dazzling performances. DanceSport teams from 40 differences colleges have competed in the past two years, and will be sending performers again this year. Top amateurs dancers from 8 to 80 will also be showcased. More than 1,000 entrants are expected to perform.
The 2016 MAC will also feature the World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF) Junior II Standard and Latin Open Competitions, which draw couples from around the world.
The Greater New York Chapter of USA Dance is recognized by the U.S. Olympic Committee as a Multisport Organization. It holds this event annually over Martin Luther King Weekend. The 2016 MAC will be held January 15 to 17 at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City. (across from the PATH station)
“The 2016 MAC promises to be the best competition yet, because of the high level of dancers participating and a venue that offers the best views of Manhattan,” said Daphna Locker, President of the Greater New York Chapter of USA Dance. “Martin Luther King Weekend is a great time for some of the country’s best dancers to showcase their skills in the dance capital of the world.”
