After successful runs at Off Broadway’s Davenport Theatre and St. Luke’s Theatre, the original cinematic musical WICKED CLONE will play a return engagement Off-Broadway at the historic American Theatre of Actors (located at 314 West 54th Street) just in time for the holidays.
Written, composed, choreographed and performed by Transylvanian-American immigrants Mihaela & Gabriela Modorcea (also known as Indiggo Twins, Grammy Award-winners for their original composition LA LA LA as featured on the four-time Grammy winning album “Watch the Thrown” by Jay-Z and Kanye West), WICKED CLONE The Cinema Musical will play a 21-performance limited engagement beginning Wednesday, December 19, 2018, through Sunday, January 13, 2019. An official Opening Night has been set for Saturday, December 22 at 8:00pm.
Based on the bestselling magical-realism novel “Wicked Clone or How To Deal with the Evil” (more info here), WICKED CLONE The Cinema Musical tells the tale of identical twin vampire sisters, Mihaela & Gabriela, who pop out of a huge cinematic screen featuring 15th century Transylvania onto the modern stage of New York. Born without a heartbeat, memories or inspiration, Mihaela and Gabriela enjoy their nightly escapades - until one night when Mihaela is bitten by a human and infected with the “human viruses” of Love and Inspiration. Eager to love and find escape from her evil twin (the wicked clone), Mihaela flees to New York, pulling her fangs out and gaining a heartbeat for the first time. Outraged, Gabriela follows her through time and space, vowing to bring her sister home to their father Vlad The Impaler and to her original vampiric state.
Through a unique immersive blend of epic film projections and musical theater, WICKED CLONE The Cinema Musical transports audiences to an immortal, Transylvanian land of song and dance. Actresses Mihaela and Gabriela Modorcea interact with 7 other characters from the screen - Vlad The Impaler, The Poet, Lucifer, God, The Producer, The Magic Mirror - and with the audience who becomes hero of the play and joins the twins on stage.
Featuring an original pop-gypsy score that blends cinematic and symphonic sounds, unique theatrical hip-hop choreographies, and en-vogue Transylvanian costumes created by Indiggo Twins, WICKED CLONE The Cinema Musical promises to inspire those who see it to conquer their “wicked clone” and play their greatest Role.
