Dorothi Fox and Arthur French, Jr. star in the premiere of “Imminently Yours” by Karimah, presented by The Negro Ensemble Company. The play is a family drama/comedy/tragedy about descendants of American slaves who who resist expropriation of their inherited properties. A secret mountain enclave has existed for centuries as an all-Black village. When its oral tradition of secrecy is lapsed by a millennial resident, the remote hamlet is discovered by the state’s governor, who would evict its elderly residents by eminent domain for nonpayment of taxes, but underestimates the savvy community there.
