$30; $20 for students & seniors
H.T. Chen & Dancers return to LaMaMa E.T.C. where they first performed in 1977, to celebrate the 2025 Lunar New Year – the Year of the Snake – and perform two seminal works by founder/choreographer H.T. Chen. From 1993 is his “Opening the Gate” along with excerpts from “Mott Street,” both works that celebrate the storied history of Chinatown and Chinese Americans. Under the direction of Dian Dong, the Company, like the Phoenix, literally rises from the ashes following the calamitous 2020 fire that destroyed their Chinatown headquarters, and the untimely 2020 passing of H.T. Three performances, Jan. 24 & 25 at 7 PM and Jan. 26 at 2 PM. Presented by LaMaMa in association with Chen Dance Center.
