The New York Festival presents ALONE, a visceral new play by Tiffany Renelle Adams. Born from the question, “What would be a scary turn for life to take?”– ALONE introduces us to Kissimi James, a woman locked in a silent war with grief following the death of her father. As her world shrinks to the walls around her— and his ashes on the table— her isolation awakens addictions and intergenerational pains that she thought had been put to rest. But unattended hygiene, self-harm, and haunting memories come together to bring her to a startling madness.
“ALONE” explores what it means to live in the aftershock of loss when no one is watching—and what horrors might emerge when your only company is the past.
Featuring heart-opening and heartbreaking performances from Ayanna Roberts, Tay Witcher, Kelsey Barnhart and Bravo Blanchard, visual symbolism and sounds create a psychological ride that sheds light on how loud the quiet can be.
A one act psychological horror, directed by Sherese Parris of The Black Lady Theatre and written by Tiffany R. Adams, ALONE is debuting with the New York Theater Festival in New York City. Representing the pain and desires we hold close to our chests, Adams shares a magnified piece of “life painted the color cringe.”
Written with intention to give acknowledgment to those with unspoken pains, ALONE touches the tender parts of ourselves that yearn for our unconditional support and love.
