gaudanse will join FUSA Dance Festival in Paris this September for a week of workshops and performances, taking place at the Fondation des États-Unis. The company will perform on September 19 at 7:30PM; tickets are free at Danse – FUSA Dance Festival.
gaudanse will present mamihlapinatapai, a dance performance, choreographed by Artistic Director, Imani Gaudin, that embodies the profound meaning of the word— “A look that without words is shared by two people who want to initiate something, but that neither will start.”— through choreographed movements, gestures, and most importantly, eye contact.
FUSA is a contemporary dance project designed as a living bridge between the French and American dance scenes. Led by Althea Dance Company, based between Paris and New York, FUSA creates a space for exchange, experimentation, and performance for artists from diverse cultural and aesthetic backgrounds.
Structured as a traveling biennale, FUSA alternates between France and the United States. Since its launch in 2023, it has been presented at key venues such as the Fondation des États-Unis in Paris and La MaMa Theaterin New York, where gaudanse first performed, showcasing powerful, emerging voices and dynamic new works from both sides of the Atlantic.
The festival offers a rich program of performances and workshops, encouraging selected artists to fully embody their creative freedom. FUSA promotes a continuous dialogue between choreographic practices, languages, and audiences—nurturing contemporary creation across borders.
On September 19, gaudanse will perform at the Fondation des États-Unis in an intimate evening designed to welcome the FEU’s community, while remaining open to all, to offer distinct experiences and perspectives on contemporary dance.
