Detailed Information:

Each member of the trio is an acclaimed leader in their own right. Taylor, an Assistant Professor of Composition at UC Berkeley, has been hailed as “a risk taker” (Huffington Post) whose music is “insistent and defiant…envelopingly hypnotic” (Lucid Culture). Lewis, “one of the fiercest sounds in jazz today (The Guardian), is noted for his “penchant for unbound exploration” (Pitchfork). Mok’s debut album, ‘The Living Collection,’ was praised by All About Jazz as “an exquisite and stimulating work.”

The evening will open with an improvised set, followed by the world premiere of ‘Breath-songs & Lullabies,’ an AfroPneumaic 30-minute work based on a tender lullaby that the composer wrote for his newborn son Elijah.
