An astonishing compilation of classic and new tangos in music, song and dance.

Teatro Círculo presents award-winning TANGO 100% directed and designed by Ángel Gil Orrios and musical direction by Emiliano Messiez from April 11 to 19, 2026 at Teatro Círculo’s 64 East 4th Street Mainstage Theater as part of its The Jeffrey and Paula Gural DANCEseries2026.

“Tango is a very popular dance world-wide, not just for the Latin and Hispanic population.”, says Ángel Gil Orrios. Teatro Círculo agrees 100% with the show’s director and for this reason is bringing Tango back to its East Village venue in Manhattan with TANGO 100%, a show with classic and contemporary Tangos performed by world-class award-winning dancers, singers and musicians. “TANGO 100% will feature full blast tango, where the audience will fully enjoy the different styles of this art form, from nostalgic and romantic to the elegant, joyful, and festive”, continues Gil Orrios.

Ángel Gil Orrios is an award-winning director, writer, lighting and set designer and producer born in Spain. He is the Artistic/Executive Director of the Thalia Spanish Theatre of New York. Among his many successes at Thalia Spanish Theatre are producing and directing 17 world premiere musicals with Maestro Raúl Jaurena, considered by Astor Piazzolla one of the best bandoneon players in the world. He has written, produced, and directed more than 15 audiovisual Tango music and dance productions; having won a Latin Grammy for Best Tango Album and various ACE and HOLA Awards for his tango shows.

José Cheo Oliveras, Teatro Círculo’s Founding Artistic Director, is excited to bring Tango back to Teatro Círculo after their last Tango show two years ago when audiences packed the house. “This time we will not only offer an excellent Tango show, but as part of our audience engagement events we will offer mini dancing classes after the Sunday performances.” Teatro Círculo will have a benefit performance on April 17th to support its series and programs honoring former Councilwoman Margarita López for the pivotal role she played in helping the company realize the dream of owning its building. “That evening, we will proudly unveil a commemorative plaque dedicating our rehearsal space as the Margarita López Rehearsal Room and Studio Theater — a space that has nurtured the creative process of thousands of New York City theater artists and continues to serve as a home for artistic creation, collaboration, and performance.”, concludes Oliveras.

The musical director and arranger of TANGO 100% is Emiliano Messiez, Latin Grammy nominated pianist and composer from Buenos Aires, Argentina, now based in New York City. Renowned for his distinctive sound and versatility, he seamlessly blends tango, jazz, classical, rock, and Latin American rhythms.

The world-class dancers will pair to bring to the stage their exquisite and agile choreographies: Analía Carreño and Luis Ramírez, Guillermina Quiroga and Mariano Logiudice, and Mariana Parma and Leonardo Sardella in different performances with world-class singers Sofía Tosello and Ache Rey also accompanied by the excellent musicians Emiliano Messiez on the piano, Sergio Reyes on the violin, Pedro Giraudo on the double bass and David Hodges on the bandoneon.

There will be no intermission, but rather a milonga where the audience can dance with the dancers, so you better be prepared because Teatro Círculo invites you to bring your dancing shoes and get ready for the milonga.

TANGO 100% is part of Teatro Fest NYC 2026, a festival of the Alliance of Teatros Latinos New York presented in March and April at Iati Theater, ID Studio Theater NYC, INTAR, The People’s Theatre, Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, Repertorio Español, Teatro LATEA, Teatro SEA, Thalia Spanish Theatre, and Teatro Círculo.
