Join us for a very special author talk for children on Saturday, April 18, 2026 @ The New York Public Library – Ottendorfer Library with local author Calvin Ramsey! In this program, he’ll be reading from and sharing about his newest book, The Library in the Woods, which won the 2026 Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award and the 2026 Coretta Scott King Author Honor. Then we’ll have time to ask questions and do a fun activity! This program is intended for children and their caregivers. Admission free. 11:00am. Calvin Alexander Ramsey is an Atlanta-based playwright, photographer, folk art painter, and children’s book author. His plays have been performed across the United States and his picture books have won numerous awards including an ALA Notable Children’s Book and a Coretta Scott King Author Honor. He is the father of three children, all of whom are writers. R. Gregory Christie’s illustrations have earned him many awards, including a Caldecott Honor, six Coretta Scott King Honors, a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award, and multiple spots on the New York Times’ annual Best Illustrated Children’s Books lists. He has been a guest speaker at conferences and libraries and teaches after school art programs all over the world.
