DESCRIPTION/NOTES:

Postcrypt Coffeehouse, established in 1964, features professional, amateur, and student performers from 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm every Friday and Saturday night throughout the academic year. Admission is always free, all ages, and open to the public, and our shows and regular open-stages bring in a diversity of music and artists. Although we mostly feature folk music, we also host performances by a variety of different musicians, poets, and other artists—with the strict rule that everything has to be acoustic. We believe in an accessible and friendly atmosphere for artists to share their craft, so, our artists (local as well as from around the country) perform for small audiences without microphones. With a well-stocked bar and fresh-baked goods, we’ve got all the cookies, coffee, and tea for a cozy night in the crypt. All-in-all, the Postcrypt is a key way for Columbia University to interact with neighborhood residents, for students to discover new music, and for aspiring musicians to come into their own.
