Detailed Information:

The Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company will celebrate its 45th anniversary with a program of works by Eleo Pomare, who had a long association with the Company, and artistic director Enrique Cruz Dejesus. A company premiere will be Pomare’s 1967 “Las Desenamoradas,” set to music by John Coltrane and based on Lorca’s House of Bernarda Alba. Receiving its world premiere will be DeJesus’ “Mending Minds,” dealing with the commitment of caretakers, and asking the question “who will care for the caring”? A highlight of the program will be Pomare’s acclaimed 1968 solo “Narcissus Rising,” portrait of a leather-clad biker originally danced by Pomare and here performed by Donna Clark. Also on the program is Pomare’s “Radeau” (Raft), depiction of a journey of 3 women on a stormy seat travelling to safety from strife-torn Haiti. By DeJesus is his delicious “Evolution,” a romp set to the irresistible rhythms of Tito Puente.
