The ALPHA OMEGA THEATRICAL DANCE COMPANY celebrates its 50th ANNIVERSARY with the premiere of artistic director Enrique Cruz DeJesus’ new “Once Upon El Barrio.” The work is inspired by the writings of Piri Thomas, author of the best seller Down These Mean Streets. Raised in a rough neighborhood and jailed as a youth, Thomas reflected on his young life in the streets and, during his incarceration, rehabilitated and became an important figure in his beloved neighborhood of Spanish Harlem. A story of resilience, redemption, and transformation. Ensemble of 13 dancers for this powerful new work.
