On Saturday April 14, direct from Argentina and Uruguay, Tango Lovers will deliver a gorgeous evening of tango with the US premiere of a new production. The company will traverse the history of tango from the golden years to the present, observing how the genre has evolved through fusions with other rhythms like jazz and contemporary music, but how the essence of tango has remained the same. The performance will feature live music led by young prodigy Lautaro Greco, considered one of the four best bandoneons in the world.

Tango Lovers is directed by Tere Sanchez Terraf (Tango Fire, Tanguera, Leonardo Cuello, Gustavo Santaolalla’s Bajo Fondo Tango Club). Tango Lovers received a Latin ACE Award for Best Musical Show of the Year in 2015 and was selected for “Best International Production” by the Association of Entertainment Producers of Uruguay (2016, 2017).

In advance of the performance, there is a free introductory tango dance class led by members of the Tango Lovers Company. The class will take place in On Stage At Kingsborough’s rehearsal studio and is available to ticket holders.
