A reading of a play within an immersive installation.

After two sold-out nights at Fiona’s Bar in Brooklyn last summer, The Call Theatre is ready to take the play by Anel Carmona to its next developmental level: an immersive reading.
Almost two years after the pandemic started, theatre-goers and creators have certainly faced many difficulties. However, this period has also been an opportunity to innovate the ways in which theatre is created as we reflect on the diverse stories that need to be told in order to positively impact our society. Green Mist is not only an entertaining story but a reflection of how privilege has shaped our society founded on the myth of meritocracy. As we re-emerge into the world after months of lockdown, we see our society with new eyes, empowering us to make a change. This story will help audiences become more aware of the systemic disparities in our society and begin the work towards a more just world.
In the reading of this immersive play, the audience will be able to choose the characters and scenes that they want to follow, giving each one of them a unique experience of the dystopian play. Some of the scenes will occur simultaneously across three different spaces while some others will occur in a linear way as the action continues in the rest of the rooms.
New York, NY – Anel Carmona is one of 500 New York City-based artists to receive a grant through the City Artist Corps Grants program, presented by The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), with support from the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) as well as Queens Theatre.
Shellen Lubin returns to direct a talented cast formed by Ross Alden, Cynthia Enfield*, Mary Hodges*, DazMann Still*, Christine Bruno*, Martha Lorena Preve, Alfred Berkowitz, and Bryce Townsend*.
