Go back in time to the 17th century with Alesssandra Belloni and I Giullari di Piazza when they present their traditional Southern Italian Christmas show “La Cantata dei Pastori” (The Shepherd’s Cantata), complete with devils, dragons, stilt walker, hilarious commedia dell’arte character, and more. Performed in Italian with English narration by La Befana, the good witch of Christmas, and a cast of 15 dancers, singers, musicians who specialize in traditional Southern Italian theater. Alessandra Belloni appears as Mary, travelling to Bethlehem and meeting many colorful characters while fighting off demons sent by the devil to stop the birth of Jesus. In the end, good triumphs over evil, and the play ends with a group singing of the oldest recorded Neapolitan Christmas song.
