Detailed Information:

L’Alliance New York presents the North American premiere of delicate people on Saturday, October 4, 2025 on Governors Island, rain date, October 5. This event is free, but RSVP is strongly recommended. For more information, visit https://lallianceny.org/event/delicate-people/.

Ruth Childs and Cécile Bouffard started the project delicate people in 2021 as a collaboration between their respective disciplines: dance and sculpture. “Delicate” describes both Bouffard’s illustrated figures and Childs’s creative process—the fine tuning necessary to an evolving choreographic story. Both artists cultivate intuition and indeterminacy, fostering the suspension of judgment through a series of delicately disturbing vignettes.

“The success of Ruth Childs and Cecile Bouffard’s work speaks to their capacity to develop before and through our eyes a new imagination, full of abstract figures and gestures: the fragile beauty of a conversation between a body and sculptures.” — Clara Colson, Zone Critique

Co-Presented by L’Alliance New York’s Crossing The Line Festival and Governors Island Arts’ INTERVENTIONS performance series.

delicate people is presented in partnership with the Center for Ballet and the Arts at New York University where Ruth Childs will be in residence for the next academic year from September 2025-May 2026.
