From the “Boogie Down Bronx” to the Bright Lights: Julia Genoveva Unveils Raw New Drama
“Love Slips Through Our Fingers” This May.
NEW YORK, NY — This May, the Producers Club becomes the stage for a visceral exploration of redemption, addiction, and the fragile bonds of family. Genoveva Productions and Up Beat Performances, Ltd. are proud to announce the world premiere of Love Slips Through Our Fingers, a provocative new play written by and starring the powerhouse Bronx-born talent, Julia Genoveva.
A Story of Second Chances and Sudden Turns
Love Slips Through Our Fingers follows Elaine, a lifelong drifter held captive by the shadows of substance abuse. When a stint in rehab forces a high-stakes reunion with her daughter, Vivian, Elaine is caught between the warmth of family and the paralyzing grip of her own doubt. Guided by the “tough love” of her childhood friend Ricardo, Elaine must decide if she is ready to change—or if her hesitation will pull everyone’s lives into a tailspin.
Directed by Gustavo “Gus” Ferrari, this production is a gritty, emotional journey that asks the ultimate question: Is love enough to bridge the gap of a lifetime of mistakes?
Meet the Visionary: Julia Genoveva
The heart of this production is its author, Julia Genoveva. Born in Ecuador and raised in the “Boogie Down Bronx,” Julia’s journey to the stage is as compelling as her scripts. Raised by a mother who championed the “American Dream” through relentless hard work, Julia carried that tenacity from the halls of the Fashion Institute of Technology to a life-changing epiphany on a movie set.
“I realized then: I want to be an actor,” Julia recalls. “There was no stopping me.”
That drive led her to found Genoveva Productions in 2009, creating a sanctuary for actors and playwrights that has evolved into a tight-knit creative family. Whether she is writing, directing, or “rolling up her sleeves” to handle the dirty work of independent theater, Julia embodies the Earl Nightingale mantra she lives by: “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal or ideal.”
