The Center at West Park presents
a Tier5 Production

meg jo beth amy & louisa

devised and written by Tier5’s revise/devise ensemble
directed by Ariel Francoeur

Assigned with the super boring task of writing a novel for young girls, Louisa May Alcott finds herself in a state of writer’s block. That is until she turns to figures and stories from her own life. The lines between fact and fiction begin to blur, as her novel, Little Women, is played out upon the stage. Louisa’s self-examination of her own sexuality, as well as unfinished family drama, weaves itself through the story in quirky, queer, and sentimental ways. Life may be the best inspiration, but what if you are afraid to learn who you are?

Part adaptation, part biography… but definitely NOT your Marmee’s Little Women!

meg jo beth amy & louisa is intended for audiences 13+ due to adult language and themes.

About Tier5

In 2015, Tier5 began its life as a collective of graduate students from East 15 Acting School’s MFA Acting (International) program in London. Its first project, Ladies in Waiting: The Judgement of Henry VIII, was a dark comedy/drama that allowed Henry VIII’s wives to finally tell him how much he actually sucked.

Ladies in Waiting went on to have sold-out, critically acclaimed runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C., winning the 2017 Hollywood Fringe International Award and the 2017 TVolution Award for Best Ensemble. In 2018, it made its US regional theatre debut with Southwest Shakespeare Company in Scottsdale, AZ, enjoying another critically acclaimed, sold-out run.

Taking the well-worn tropes and known facts of history and literature and revisiting them through a feminist and queer light clicked and Tier5 found its voice, and now, we’re incredibly excited to present our second production.

meg jo beth amy & louisa premiered in a workshop production with Dixon Place in New York City, on November 1, 2018.
