Renowned puppet and maskmaker Ralph Lee returns with his Mettawee River Theatre Company to the outdoor garden of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine (111th St. & Amsterdam Avenue) with “The Ringdove,” a collection of allegorical tales whose origins reach back over 2000 years to ancient India. The show will incorporate a range of masks, puppets and other remarkable visuals by Lee, whose creations have been seen throughout the years at the Metropolitan Opera, Lincoln Center Repertory Theatre, NY Shakespeare Festival, and more – even Saturday Night Live! (that naughty Landshark). A staff of expert puppeteers/singers/actors will enact the play, accompanied by original music by Neal Kirkwood, performed live.
