and find new audiences.
Felicia B Avalos | The Gods Are Laughing At Us: The Ongoing Water Crisis in México
The Gods Are Laughing At Us: The Ongoing Water Crisis in México was created during the Unity Space AiR in Melbourne, Australia in 2017. This project focuses on different aspects of the water crisis from a fusion of a rain dance with a Muay Thai boxing ritual fighters practice in the ring before a match, to how the drought affects a farmer’s crops, to the sinking of Mexico City. During the residency, Avalos trained in MMA to merge fighting techniques and contemporary dance to share this topic. This research is to honor Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Aztec Empire, before it was conquered by the Spanish, and to Tláloc, the Aztec rain god.
Alicia Soto | And You, Who Do You Bring?
And You, Who Do You Bring? is a transdisciplinary laboratory-performance combining theater, dance, and music. This project is a unique experience of gathering, collective creation, and expression—an artistic celebration of identity and memory, of the body and imagination, of exchange and transformation. Thirteen NYC-based performers and community members join this collaboration with Alicia Soto and Dance Entropy’s Artistic Director, Valerie Green.
