The New York Dance and Performance Awards, known as The Bessies, have saluted outstanding and groundbreaking creative work in the dance field since its founding by David R. White in 1984. The Awards recognize choreography, performance, music composition, visual design, legacy, and service to the field of dance. The Bessies return on January 20 to present Awards for 2024 and 2025 nominees, as well as Lifetime Achievement Awards to Dyane Harvey-Salaam, Ballet Tech, Garth Fagan, and Gibney Dance.
