A new play by Edward Einhorn examining the nexus between neuroscience, marketing, art, and love. Set at a neuromarketing firm, it follows a neuroscientist who is trying to scientifically define love for advertising purposes and his wife, an artist who is using her brain scans as the basis of video self-portraits. This multimedia production continues UTC61’s ongoing interest in combining theater with the fields of economics and neuroscience.

Edward Einhorn recently wrote and directed The Marriage of Alice B. Toklas by Gertrude Stein, made a Critic’s Pick in The New York Times by their co-chief reviewer, Jesse Green. He also previously curated the NEUROfest, a festival of plays about neurological conditions, and Money Lab, an economic vaudeville.

The play stars downtown regulars Ashley Griffin, Mick O’Brien, Yvonne Roen, and Matthew Trumbull. Set by Jim Boutin (Lypsinka), video by Magnus Pind Bjerre (3LD), costumes by Ramona Ponce (Ridiculous Theater Company), lighting by Jeff Nash (La Mama, Soho Rep), and sound by Sadah Espii Proctor (Nervous/System at the Brooklyn Academy of Music). An art exhibit of work inspired by neuroscience is curated by Marnie Benney of the SciArt Center, and it will be open an hour before each performance.
