Detailed Information:

Fan-favorite classic silent film The Phantom of the Opera returns to the Historic Brook Theater on Saturday, October 26, 2019. 7:30pm.
The story of The Phantom of the Opera is well known from the blockbuster Broadway play. However, long before that version, the book by Gaston Le Roux inspired several films. The most notable being 1925 silent film starring Lon Chaney remains the standard for capturing the horror aspects of the earlier novel, from the stage of the Paris Opera House to the winding darkness of the Phantom’s underground secret hideaway.
The emotional undertones of the movie will be provided by the instrument created just for this purpose, the theatre pipe organ. The Garden State Theatre Organ Society installed and maintains its Wurlitzer organ in the Brook Theater. GSTOS is proud to present Bernie Anderson as the organist for this event.
The beautiful Brook Arts Center is the perfect location for a silent film showing. The Brook, designed by William E. Lehman, opened in 1927. It was recognized as the only surviving vaudeville theater in Somerset County by being added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.
Movie goers are welcome to enter into the spirit of the evening by coming in costume. Adult tickets are $10. Students, seniors and those in costume – $7. The Theater offers concessions and ADA accessible seating. For more information see the Garden State Theatre Organ Society website www.gstos.org or the Brook Arts Center website www.brookarts.org.
