On its “Sharing the Stage” series, Alpha Omega is proud to present “Tied,” the one-man tour de force brilliantly performed by Jason Carmichael, written by Crystal Rae, both recipients of awards and rave notices at the play’s premiere in Houston. Carmichael portrays Daniel, the father of one of the four young girls killed in the Sept. 16, 1963, KKK bombing of the 16th St. Baptist Church in Alabama. The horrendous crime galvanized the Civil Rights movement and inspired the passage of the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964. It’s not the bombing that playwright Rae focuses on, but its devastating personal aftermath as Daniel recalls his life before and after. Hope, heartbreak, and humor intertwine as Daniel fights for his footing. “…a work of genius. Jason Carmichael is astonishing…he breaks your heart” Houstonpress.com
