In Memoriam: A Tribute to Maestro Hector Zaraspe (1930-2023). Curated by mentee Gabriela Estrada, the evening will include multidisciplinary performances by Maestro Zaraspe’s mentees, with live dance, vocal, and piano music performances; an overview of his life and contributions to the arts; remarks by mentee Joseph Bartning, Executive Dirctor of the Salzburg Festival Society; and closing remarks by producer Mel Howard, with whom Zaraspe collaborated as a choreographer in Broadway’s Tango Pasion. Born in Argentina, Zaraspe became a noted choreographer, coach of illustrious dancers including Fonteyn and Nureyev, and faculty member at The Juilliard School, where was a beloved teacher for 35 years. The event is free, but registration is required.
