A dependable haven for artists in isolation, Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) is in its sixth year of non-stop weekly Community Gatherings, and celebrating its 300th consecutive conversation this Friday. The series has offered the theater community unlimited camaraderie since April 17, 2020. TRU hosts these Community Gatherings every Friday at 5pm ET via Zoom, originally presented to explore the creation of art and theater in the time of COVID-19, and now to ensure that these crucial conversations continue going forward.

3/13 – Jump in: The Appeal of Immersive Theater, and Its Place in Our Creative Spectrum. In the room: Blair Russell, Broadway, off-Broadway and Fringe producer opening the Denver Immersive Repertory Theater (DIRT) in Denver this spring; and Elijah Bienze of Mystery Players, NYC’s musical mystery theater troupe. We’ll talk about various forms of alternative theater with a focus on immersive theater, inter-active theater and devised theater. How do you know if a project will work better in a traditional or immersive presentation? With enough imagination, can any work be enhanced by a non-traditional approach?
