Valentina Kozlova, former principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet and New York City Ballet, announces the 7th annual Kozlova International Ballet Competition, rewarding excellence in both classical and modern dance. Semi-finals have already been held in Argentina and Russia, and New York will see more Rounds, the exciting Finals, and the presentation of Awards and Gala Performance, featuring dancers who have received medals, monetary awards, scholarships to schools around the world, and company contracts. There will also be a guest appearance by a trio from Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, and an award to Arthur Mitchell, honored for his major contributions to the dance world over the years. The remarkable jury will be led by Andris Liepa, and includes Julio Bocca, Nina Ananiashvili, Nikolai Tsiskaridze, and other renowned figures in dance. Tuesday and Wednesday (June 6 & 7) feature Ballet Rounds for all levels; Thursday is devoted to contemporary dancers and choreographers; Friday are the Finals; Saturday at 6 PM is the announcement of medalists, followed by the 7 PM Gala.
