$15 for Rounds
The Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition announces the 15th edition, with Rounds at New York Live Arts, March 17-18-19, starting at 1 PM. As the Rounds run several hours, audience members may step out and return with presentation of their tickets. This year, over 150 dancers from around the world, from Poland to Portugal, will dance for company contracts and scholarships to international dance academies. President of the distinguished jury is prima ballerina Nina Ananiashvili. Judges include international company artistic directors and directors/teachers of dance academies. VKIBC has expanded to include entrants in contemporary dance as well as classical ballet. Rounds will take place at NYLA, 219 W. 19th St., March 17-19, and the Gala Performance and announcement of winners will be held at the Kaye Playhouse, 68th St. & Park Avenue, March 21 at 7 PM. Moscow native Kozlova was trained at the Bolshoi School and was a principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet when she defected in 1979. At the invitation of George Balanchine, she was principal with NYCB for 13 years. For more details and daily schedules of VKIBC, please visit www.vkibc.org
