Miranda Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Adam Seidel’s Williston. The first in the company’s new POP Up Productions Series, Williston is in performances now through November 12, 2018 at the IATI Theatre. Directed by Miranda Theatre Company Artistic Director, Valentina Fratti, Williston stars Tony Award-nominee and MCC Artistic Director Robert LuPone, Kate Grimes, and Drew Ledbetter.
It is 2013, the peak of the domestic energy boom. Operating out of a single wide trailer in a man camp situated ten miles outside of town, two leasing reps have made a trip to Williston, North Dakota to secure rights to land belonging to a man known as “Indian Jim,” a Native American infamous for his resistance to the oil community. Not only will this be the biggest lease their company has ever obtained, but Indian Jim’s tract is the last major parcel in the region which remains undeveloped. Compounding this already delicate situation is the arrival of a third team member, a young analyst eager to get his feet wet in the field who’s never been to North Dakota, much less Williston. As these three immerse themselves in the gritty and often dangerous world of Williston, they fight to get the deal done while also coming to terms with the consequences of the choices they make.
