Hudson Guild Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Tasha Partee’s “A Five Mile Radius”; a virtual production with performances on Friday October 23 at 7:30PM, Saturday October 24 at 2PM and 7:30PM and Sunday October 25 at 2PM on the Hudson Guild YouTube channel (see link below). Jim Furlong and Devin Klos direct a twelve actor cast. Imaginatively filmed using zoom technique, the play which addresses issues of class, race, gun control and social media, brings a timely close to Hudson Guild Theatre Company’s 25th Anniversary Season . Set in a Staten Island apartment complex on the evening of July 4th, the story is a crisis point in the life of popular local food critic, Edie Pfeiffer whose working class roots are at once her shield and her Achilles heel. She finds her life upended when a neighbor’s seven year old son is accidentally shot, leading her to post a controversial picture of the boy on twitter asking for prayers that he survives. This sets off a flurry of comments ranging from highly sympathetic to completely hostile as, simultaneously, a sensitive issue from her past comes to light. All she’s worked for begins to unravel as a result.
