I Giullari di Piazza holds its annual fundraiser/performance – a celebration of life, joy, and community – December 17th at the Lunella Restaurant in Little Italy. The evening will include a delicious dinner and a performance of the Company’s “Tarantata,” an impeccably researched production rich with songs, tarantellas, dances, and magic rituals used to cure the mythical bite of the tarantula, along with healing chants and ritual drumming in honor of the Black Madonna. Performed with authentic costuming, music, and instrumentation, and starring Alessandra Belloni and John La Barbera.
There will also be awards to noteworthy Italian/Americans: Angelina Fiordellisi, former director of the Cherry Lane Theatre; writer/actor Saverio Guerra; director/photographer Lisa Leone; and author Alex Iantaffi.
