Detailed Information:

Join acclaimed pianist/composer Thomas Kotcheff as he kicks off Piano Spheres’ 2025/26 season with inventive composer/electronic artist Bryan Curt Kostors, video artist Allison Tanenhaus, and percussionist Michael Compitello. This special performance will celebrate the release of Kotcheff’s new album with Kostors, Between Systems, coming out October 3 on Post Tonal Records. One of the most audacious new releases of the year, Between Systems pushes the boundaries of classical interpretation.

The performance brings together two seemingly unrelated worlds: the rigorous chromatic pointillism of Morton Feldman, and iconic works from popular and electronic music. Along with selections from Between Systems, Kotcheff will perform a world premiere by Sophie Mathieu (the voice that fades), plus pieces by Aphex Twin and Squarepusher, and hybrid works by György Ligeti/Cher (Concert Prelude No. 1: Believe), Thomas Kotcheff/Celine Dion (Obbligato Snare Drum Music No. 1: The Power of Love), and Kotcheff/Alex Weiser/Beyoncé (Grand Passacaglia No. 1: Love on Top).
