“She was ahead of her time” is what they said, well….what time was she supposed to arrive?
Tendayi Kuumba will perform her public sharing called HEROIN’E. She is a singer, dancer, performer and choreographer who performed at Afro-Punk and was featured in the New York Times! Her inspiration comes from diva spirits like Ethel Waters, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, Dorothy Dandridge, and Ella Fitzgerald.
This one woman situation is an embodied performance and musical journey. It creates space to capture that essence of the ultimate intergalactic BLACK Diva in all her glory!
What world is created when the ultimate Heroin’e has arisen? Where is the planet that nurtures the resilience of her vices, that brings out her ultimate powers, yet still leaves you in awe of her supernatural strength? That is What, Where, and Who Heroin’e is.
She will capture the dissonance between the difficult internal dialogues behind closed doors to the stage!
This show is part of the Hi-ARTS Critical Breaks Series featuring our artist residents.
