Detailed Information:

The dynamic and incomparable star of Another Son of Venezuela, Migguel Anggelo, returns to Joe’s Pub with a brand new show, So Close: Love & Hate. The show was inspired by the current political climate, where negativity is being perpetuated by many leaders around the world. The show is an expression of Migguel’s frustration toward it all. So Close: Love & Hate is a truly intimate production addressing divisiveness, humanity and hope. Migguel presents a rich song cycle including an array of brand new compositions punctuated by Latin classics, American standards, Broadway, opera, and Bjork. Migguel pours his lush voice and enormous soul into this new show directed and developed by Obie Award winner David Drake (best known as the creator of The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me) and under the musical direction and arrangements of Mau Quiros.

What are you most looking forward about your return to Joe’s Pub? Can you talk about how a venue like this makes for a unique performance experience? We are so excited to be back at Joe’s Pub with a brand, new show! This piece has a different instrumentation than Another Son of Venezuela, our last show in which my beloved band, The Immigrants, were a huge part of the fun. Mau Quiros (my Musical Director, arranger and co-writer) and I wanted to experiment with a new sound for this one. Mau is playing the keyboard and the loop while cello, flute, clarinet and bass clarinet complete the ensemble. There are a …Read more
