New Perspectives Theatre Company is now accepting applications for its Women’s
Work Short Play Lab. This lab provides a supportive and nurturing environment to
emerging and mid-career women playwrights at NPTC’s midtown Manhattan studio.
These playwrights will work with dramaturgs and directors over a five-month period, to
develop scripts for production in our annual Women’s Work Short Play Festival.
Applications are being accepted from both playwrights and directors. See our website
for details and how to apply.

Operating since 1994, this program boasts of many playwrights whose work has gone
on to full, award-winning productions. In the lab, four to six members are selected each
year, along with a similar number of directors. The LAB meets monthly (Sundays) from
February through June, allowing for time in between sessions for writers to continue to
develop and revise their work in response to feedback. The process creates a diverse
collaborative group from which members can draw inspiration and energy. NPTC is a
multi-racial ensemble dedicated to using theatre as an agent for positive social change.
