Metropolitan Room will host the 2015 annual fundraising gala on Sunday, May 17th for Cabaret Cares/Help Is On The Way Today.
Actress/singer Anita Gillette will receive The Ruth Kurtzman Lifetime Achievement Award and performers Gary Lizardo and Ricky Ritzel will be the recipients of Spirit Awards for their tireless contributions to the charity over the year.
The Gala will be hosted by MAC award nominee Tom Gamblin. Tracy Stark is Music Director for the evening’s entertainment.
Doors will open for Cocktail Hour at 5PM, followed by a buffet dinner at 6PM. Live auction begins at 7:30PM. Guests will also enjoy gift bags and unlimited beer, wine, beverage and Specialty Cocktails.
Cabaret Cares/Help Is On The Way Today is a 501c non-profit organization that assists children and youth living with HIV/AIDS . The charity's founder, Joseph Macchia, is Metropolitan Room’s co-booking manager with owner Bernie Furshpan. The charity has raised over $100,000 since it was founded in 2005 and has assisted more than 700 children in need. Fundraising is undertaken primarily through monthly performances by many of New York's finest nightclub and theater performers.
The charity also helps families and organizations with special and immediate needs and is currently working on a new mentoring initiative.
Metropolitan Room is located in the fashionable Flatiron District at 34 West 22nd Street between 5th and 6th Avenue.
