Summer is here and as many people head to the beach or take a break from the city, stage actors are making sure those who remain, or those who come for a visit, have varied entertainment options. With bright days ahead and more Vitamin D anyone could ask for, the summer seems like three months of bliss, but just like extreme winter, the summer comes with a few cons, especially for those actors who have to spend lots of time walking from audition to audition, performing two show days, or juggling several jobs. So we tried out a few products that will make the summer much more pleasurable, relaxing and comfortable.
At first glance the Dreampad seems like one of those incredibly fluffy pillows that only seem to exist in hotels and Nancy Meyers' movies, and in a way it is. Just resting your head on the Firm Support Dreampad feels like lying down on a piece of heaven, and yet the cloud-like wonder holds more surprises than you'd expect. Within the Dreampad lies a sophisticated sound system that turns music into gentle vibrations that pave the way for calm, rejuvenating sleep. If you think you can't sleep with music rest assured this isn't like a traditional sound machine or even guided meditation apps, the best way to describe what the Dreampad feels like is to say that it's as if peaceful, soothing music was emanating from your unconscious. After trying the Dreampad for a couple of days, it was remarkable to see how the sound can only be perceived by the person lying on the pillow (a bonus for people who don't sleep alone) and the wake-up setting (everything is set up via the app available for Android and iOS). While the Dreampad comes with its own music (developed by sleep scientists), you can listen to whatever you want, perhaps actors can fall asleep to that monologue that is giving them trouble? Or some inspirational speeches by Sir Laurence Olivier or Elaine Stritch?

You've seen all those soda commercials in which people go "ahh" after a sip of whatever elixir they just ingested. Now imagine if that happened each time you slipped into a pair of flip flops. Such is the miracle of the AhhSoles, textured flip flops that come in several styles all of which make your feet feel like the luckiest of all your body parts (not an understatement). AhhSoles come in several colorful styles, all of which provide different sensations to your poor old soles. The Green Ripple offers delicious massaging action that makes walking feel like the most pleasurable of all activities, while the Blue Coral expertly mimics the sensation of walking over smooth coral. These babies ought to put you in a state of tropical relaxation even if you're standing in an overcrowded subway with no AC.

If all you do during the summer is sweat and wish you had a portable shower, Purequosa is exactly what you've been dreaming of, the organic body spray with colloidal silver is the perfect emergency bath which you can use after a workout, before going out with friends for drinks after work, or just when you've been in the train so long that you feel like you've never felt the touch of water. Purequosa is available in refreshing, but never overpowering, scents that you can use without interfering with your own cologne. The organic sprays have antibacterial/antifungal properties that make your skin healthier as they rescue you from the heat.

Speaking of heat, there are days when it's so hot outside that all you want to do is crank the AC up and stay in bed in your undies waiting for a breeze to come rescue your soul from evaporating. And if Netflix and chilling (literally) are going well, what would make for a better complement than a pint of sweet, luscious ice cream? But ugh, having to step outside to get it isn't in the cards. Thankfully there's ICOD (Ice Cream on Demand) a new service in which refreshing gelatos and artisanal ice creams are delivered to your doorstep. The company excels in promoting unique flavors and textures including Korean style ice cream and old fashioned thick, creamy combinations like the Butter Pecan Brittle from Ample Hills. I'm addicted to the Little Miss Sunshine by Noona's Ice Cream, which blends smooth honeycomb with turmeric for a result that will have you placing more orders than you'd expected.
