Just a few weeks ago Michael McNamara wasn't on anyone's radar including that of acclaimed Broadway Music Director, Orchestrator and Producer, Kim Scharnberg. But all that changed when Katriona Dean uploaded a McNamara's soulful rendition of A Great Big World's "Say Something" onto YouTube. And today, Mr. Scharnberg let the world know that he will be Mr. McNamara's Music Director and Producer.
There may be no such thing as an overnight sensation but Michael McNamara's impromptu piano session rocketed to an astonishing 1.5 million YouTube views, garnering him attention from the likes of Sarah McLachlan and Alannah Myles, not to mention a few high profile record companies, producers and millions of adoring 'regular folks'.
Mr. Scharnberg is Broadway Veteran having orchestrated the Wonderland, Little Women (2005 Drama Desk nomination), Jekyll and Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and The Civil War (2000 National Broadway Theater Awards nomination). In his varied and illustrious career has worked as an arranger, orchestrator, producer and/or conductor with the who's who of the music industry including Linda Eder, Clay Aiken, Trisha Yearwood, Jesse Norman, Julie Andrews, Natalie Cole and several American Symphony Orchestras.
No timeframe has been announced for the release of the McNamara/Scharnberg collaboration.
