Creator David Cork Talks About "Bi", His Refreshing New Webseries

davidjaycork"Bi" the webseries premiered last week on YouTube, offering a refreshing look at otherwise unspoken subjects including New York youths, race, and Bisexuality. We met with writer and creator David Cork to talk about the show.

What inspired you to make a show about Bisexuality?

It actually started when I was in a relationship and it ended badly...well I was seeing three people at the time and things got really crazy. So I called my Mom to talk about it and she said, "You know what? Your life is a show," and I figured you gotta make your own opportunities.

When did you realize you were Bisexual?

In college. I thought it was a phase and I was actually gay, but then I realized I still liked women.  I told myself, "I can't help it, I'm Bi." Then I met other people that are Bi and said, "Yeah, this is who I am." And that's what I really want to show with this series. That it's okay to be anything you feel like.

I want the show to be for everyone. I wouldn't call it a black show. I mean I know that as a black man I have a responsibility to give a voice to black actors who otherwise would never be seen. But we really are color blind. I want everyone to see the show really. I want a gay man and a lesbian girl to say, "Oh do you watch Bi? I love that show." But for now we'll take anyone we can.

Where do you want to see the show go?

I want it to be something special. Not just 1 or 2 seasons, I want it to go on and on.

As do we, David. You can catch Bi the webseries below.
