Review: The Devil of Delancey Street

Devil-of-Delancey-Street-Flyer-2014With a flurry of voices and stories colliding on stage, The Devil of Delancey Street succeeds in pulling the ends together only when needed.  We follow a recent widow, Mrs. Chaste, struggling to restart her life in a time where financial independence for women is not only rare, but dangerous.

Jessica Lauren Copland gives a forthright performance as Mrs. Chaste, with bold delivery and consistent quality. However, the strength of this show relies on both the brilliant and haunting melodies, and an incredibly talented ensemble. With uniquely crafted delivery influenced by vaudeville melodies and show, The Devil of Delancey Street's unpredictably twisted and cheeky story delivers.

The Devil of Delancey Street was performed as part of the Thespis Theater Festival. For more information, visit https://thespisnytheaterfestival.com/
