What could have been a life on hold for writer/performer Joseph Assadourian became the discovery of skill that has transformed his life -- and that of anyone who sees his one person show, "The Bullpen", now at the Playroom Theater. Assadourian began his theater career in a theatre workshop at Otisville Correctional Institution, where he was serving time. Since then, his work has been featured at the New Work Now reading series at the The Public Theater and The Collective Theatre in Miami -- the sort of opportunities for which many artists might consider getting themselves thrown in jail themselves.
StageBuddy caught up with Assadourian to chat about his characters, his experience behind bars, and what writers need to do if they want to create a show.
