New In Theaters This Weekend 7/5

Want to go to the movies this weekend but not sure what to see? Here's a list of all new releases to coming to theaters on July 5, 2013.

The Lone Ranger

Actually hitting theaters today, July 3, Disney's The Lone Ranger showcases Johnny Depp in yet another oddball role. First debuting in a 1933 radio show, The Lone Ranger was a Texas Ranger turned masked hero that fought injustice in the Old West. Depp plays the Ranger's sidekick Tonto, while the Ranger himself is played by rising-star Armie Hammer. The Lone Ranger is directed by Gore Verbinski, the man behind the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films.

Despicable Me 2

Gru and his little yellow minions are back in the sequel to the 2010 hit, Despicable Me. Once a master supervillain, Gru was transformed to an instrument of good thanks to three little girls that he's adopted. When the Anti-Villain League recruits Gru to stop a powerful new foe, he must re-familiarize himself with how a criminal's mind works in order to save the world. Despicable Me 2 opens Wednesday, July 3.

Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain

The last Wednesday release of the week is Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain. This performance film was shot a sold-out show of comedian Kevin Hart at Madison Square Garden. The Way, Way Back

Following up their Oscar win for 2011's The Descendants, writers Nat Faxon and Jim Rash make their directing debut with this coming-of-age tale. Fox Searchlight is hoping The Way, Way Back will be their new Little Miss Sunshine - a tall order but one that could be matched. The large cast includes Steve Carell (in a very unsympathetic role), Toni Collette, Sam Rockwell, Allison Janney, AnnaSophia Robb, Liam James, Rob Corddry, and Amanda Peet.
