Last night at the Teen Choice Awards, "Glee" star Lea Michele won the prize for Choice TV Actress - Comedy. She was there in person to accept the award, marking her first public appearance since the death of co-star and real-life boyfriend Cory Monteith nearly one month ago. It was only the second time Michele has issued a statement about Cory, following a tweet on July 29 that read:
"Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support. Cory will forever be in my heart."
She dedicated the award to Monteith's memory in an increasingly tearful speech while flanked by "Glee" cast members Amber Riley, Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale:
"I wanted to dedicate this award to Cory, for all you out there that loved and admired Cory as much as I did. I promise that with your love, we're going to get through this together."
"Glee" also won awards for Choice TV Show - Comedy, Choice TV Scene Stealer - Male (for Chord Overstreet) and Choice TV Breakout Star (for Blake Jenner).
